Recycling or remodelling ?
Through their partnership with designer Jean-François Morrissette, the Robertson Group can help give new life to an old fur garment.
Two terms of similar meaning that let you attain two objectives:
- Ecological use of a resource
- A more modern look for an old fur coat
In May of 2000, the magazine Bel Age headed one of its articles in this way:
You find that you are less and less fond of the wildcat fur coat you purchased ten or so years ago?
Your mother's mink that you inherited ages gracefully in your cedar closet?
The beaver coat bought for you by your husband has become too small?
The solution?
Remodel it!
Jean-François Morrissette, this specialist and fur lover, will first of all verify the quality of the coat and determine whether it had been well looked after. Next, he will talk with you in order to get a feel for your tastes and your needs. Finally, he will present you with a number of models made from tailor's canvas, so that you can try them on.
It takes about three months to put it together and the cost of a recycled coat can vary from $1500 to $2500

Insurance
Because of the volume stored in the vaults at Mashteuiatsh and in Montreal (5000 coats), the Robertson Group can issue insurance certificates suited to your needs, helping to protect your investment. Unlike individual protection, this insurance will cover your coat against, fire, theft and vandalism and this (special clause), throughout the year at a fraction of the normal price. In the case of loss or damage, the claim is settled in the ten (10) days following reporting of the fact, in the amount registered on your certificate. This will surely allow you to wear your coat in complete confidence, knowing it is protected wherever you are.
Where and how to store it
So that the fur holds up well over time.
Some furs (coats, hats, accessories) hold up well for years, while others deteriorate rapidly. Of course, the way the garment is worn will have a lot to do with it, but it is mainly the way it is stored that can make the difference as to how long it will last.
The cedar closet or the refrigerated vault?
The closet must be avoided at all costs. The refrigerated vault is vastly superior because of its ability to control temperature and humidity.
