History
The company was formally created by René Robertson in the 1960's. In 1996, it was purchased by his son Édouard Robertson, who has ensured its success since that time.
In business for generations
Although the company was only started in the 60's, the Robertson family has been associated with the fur market for more than six generations. During the heydays of the Hudson's Bay Company and Révillon et Frères, the Robertson family was busy developing the raw fur market through the purchase of furs from the trappers and hunters of the Montagnais, Crees, Atikameks and the Algonquins.
It was only in 1971 that the company opened its first public outlet in the form of a handicraft booth specialising in fur, while at the same time maintaining its principal involvement in wild furs. In parallel with this initiative, they began to develop and design fur boots, mittens, hats and coats.
In the 1980's, the company further reinforced its position among the major players in the industry by acquiring two businesses, Fourrures Micheline and Leclerc-Faucher, both of Montreal. From that time, the company was able to not only deal in unprocessed fur, but could also design and remodel fur coats. The arrival in 1998 of Griffe d'or award winner Jean-François Morrissette, permitted the company to move on to greater heights, just in time for the beginning of the third millennium.
